Vote by Mail

You can request a mail-in ballot up to 5 days before the General Election. Applications can be submitted online, by mail, or in person at your local election office.

Vote Early In-Person

Early voting begins September 24, 2026. You can vote at any early voting location in your county. Make sure to bring a valid ID with you when you go to vote early.

Vote on Election Day

Election Day is November 3, 2026. Polls are open from 6am to 7pm. Find your polling location and make sure to bring a valid ID.

Vote by Mail Information

In Illinois, you can request a mail-in ballot up to 5 days before the General Election. Applications can be submitted online, by mail, or in person at your local election office. You do not need to provide a reason for requesting a mail-in ballot as this requirement was removed in 2009.

Mail-in ballot Application Deadlines and Instructions:

  • Deadline to Request: 5 days before Election Day
  • How to Apply: Online, by mail, or in person at your local election office
  • Return Method: Mail or drop off at designated locations

Completed mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received within 14 days after the election to be counted.
